In a statement, 901 FC said a soccer-specific stadium was an essential part of keeping a pro team in Memphis and that its stadium plans were “unceremoniously left out” after the city received the state funding.

The Memphis Redbirds organization said 901 FC’s departure from AutoZone Park has “no impact on the Memphis Redbirds’ current tenure” but says work is needed on AutoZone Park.
