The Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control has issued a one-week recreational water advisory for nearly all Atlantic Ocean beaches in Delaware, two days after medical waste started washing ashore. Emergency response teams are monitoring state park beaches, the advisory said.

Beachgoers were urged to stay out of the water after dozens of hypodermic needles, as well as tampon applicators and other medical waste, were found on beaches over the weekend.

DNREC has issued a recreational water advisory for Delaware coastal beaches – including Rehoboth Beach in relation to the medical waste that has washed ashore since Sunday. This advisory is for one week.
