Lava fountains surged as the Kilauea volcano erupted in Hawaii. Dramatic footage shows lava and molten rocks bursting through a narrow notch in the cone wall within the crater, 164 ft (50 m) into the air on February 4.

A tall fountain of lava is spewing from a volcano on Hawaii's Big Island. A webcam on Tuesday shows vigorous streams of red lava in the latest episode of an eruption that has paused and resumed.

Episode 8 of the ongoing Halemaʻumaʻu eruption at Kīlauea began at 9:52 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 3, 2025 and is currently fountaining from the north vent, according to the USGS Hawaiian Volcano Observatory.
