Gaetz withdrew his name from consideration on Thursday following accusations that he was involved in recruiting women online for sex.

U.S. President-elect Donald Trump said on Thursday he would nominate former Florida Attorney General and loyalist Pam Bondi to be U.S. Attorney General, moving swiftly to replace his former nominee Matt Gaetz after the embattled former congressman withdrew from consideration.

In addition to being “learned in the law,” as the Judiciary Act of 1789 provides, an attorney general is expected to execute a president’s priorities while protecting the rule of law.
