This is the first official image from the Gavin and Stacey finale since filming wrapped in October. The cast delighted fans for several weeks as they took to the streets of Barry, as well as appearing on the seafront at Barry Island to film the upcoming special.

New pictures released ahead of the new Gavin and Stacey episode show the cast 17 years on from the show’s debut.

In the newly-released image, the four main cast members – James Corden as Smithy, Mathew Horne as Gavin, Joanna Page as Stacey and Ruth Jones as Nessa – have recreated the original artwork which accompanied the very first series, 17 years ago.

Five years on from the last Christmas special, the finale of Gavin and Stacey is set to hit our screens next month. Airing between 2007 and 2010, before returning for a one-off special in 2019, the BBC sitcom will end with another festive episode this Christmas Day.

In May, James Corden posted a new picture with friend and series collaborator Ruth Jones, showing them holding a script with the words: “ Gavin and Stacey: The Finale.” “Some news… It’s official!!!” Corden’s caption began.
