San Francisco could see as much as six inches of rain over the next week as a moisture-packed storm known as an atmospheric river works its way south from the Pacific Northwest.

Potentially damaging southwest wind, a risk for severe thunderstorms, flash flooding and heavy snow on the peaks of the Big Island’s volcanoes are all in the forecast.

Hawaii is under severe weather warnings, including high winds, thunderstorms, and flash floods, as a storm approaches.

A powerful storm is bringing severe thunderstorms with heavy rains and gusty winds to Hawaii. Flood alerts are in place for most of the islands through Friday. Power outages neared 20,000 by Thursday afternoon as the islands were blasted by near 60 mph gusts.
