A sloppy bowling performance by Bangladesh helped West Indies recover from a shaky start to reach 250-5 on the opening day of the first Test at the Sir Vivian Richards Stadium in Antigua on Friday.

In what is his 50th Test, Mehidy Hasan Miraz led the side in absence of injured Najmul Hossain Shanto and won the toss. He put West Indies into bat first, expecting that his fast bowlers would utilize the early help from the pitch to leave West Indies at hell.

Mikyle Louis and Alick Athanaze fell agonizingly short of maiden centuries as the West Indies rallied from 25-2 to reach 250-5 against Bangladesh on the first day of the first test. Louis was out for 97 and Athanaze on 90 after sharing a dogged 140-run partnership for the fourth wicket.
