In response to violent riots in Sambhal, the Uttar Pradesh government orders recovery of damages from rioters and plans to display posters of wanted individuals. A magisterial inquiry is initiated as police identify and arrest suspects linked to the unrest caused by a court survey of Jama Masjid.

The Uttar Pradesh government announced on Wednesday that individuals involved in the recent violence in Sambhal will be held accountable for damages to public property, with their posters prominently displayed in public areas.

This approach mirrors a similar initiative during the anti-CAA protests in 2020, where posters of alleged vandals were displayed, although they were later removed by court order.

Days after violence broke out in Uttar Pradesh’s Sambhal, killing four people and injuring several others, the police said protesters have been identified through video footage from drone cameras and CCTV footage from the area.

Police have retrieved photographs and video footage from CCTVs of as many as 75 people so far suspected to be involved in the violence

The town remained tense for the third consecutive day on Wednesday when the police released posters of 100 stone pelters with stones in their hands and their faces covered.
