Red flag warning means critical fire conditions in Boulder County
Boulder County is under a red flag warning on Tuesday for elevations under 6,000 feet as the National Weather Service is warning of critical fire weather.
A grassfire that started in southeastern Boulder County on Monday afternoon and prompted evacuations and the closure of U.S. 287 has been contained, the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office said in an update at about 4:40 p.m.
The Boulder County Commissioners have approved more than $2 million in fire-protection grants, with funds generated by the Emergency Services Sales & Use Tax ballot measure approved by voters in 2022.
