The action, requested by the state bar and Paxton, ended a lawsuit alleging the attorney general dishonestly tried to overturn the 2020 election.

Texas Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton says his office will assist federal agents with the mass deportation of people who are in the country illegally and encourages state and local law enforcement agencies to do the same thing.

The state bar had sought to sanction Paxton, which could have carried a punishment ranging from a private reprimand to disbarment.
