Former Pakistan captain Shahid Afridi has described the standoff between the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) over the 2025 Champions Trophy as a clash of politics and sports.

Shahid Afridi has offered his full support to Pakistan's stance of not accepting the hybrid model for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The tournament has been in limbo due to India's reluctance to travel to Pakistan for the tournament.

PCB is resisting the hybrid model and wanting to host the event entirely within the country which makes further confusion regarding its future.

India have intimated to the ICC their refusal to travel to Pakistan for the tournament. PCB wants the entire Champions Trophy to be played at Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi.
