A video circulating on social media has thousands of users believing it shows the missing Green Lake County kayaker who allegedly faked his death and fled the country, but deputies are debunking that claim.

The Green Lake County sheriff is debunking a viral TitkTok video some think shows a missing Watertown man suspected of staging his death in August.

Ryan Borgwardt, a married father of three, has been missing since August after leaving for a relaxing fishing trip on Green Lake, about an hour north of his home in Watertown, Wisconsin. Investigators now suspect the experienced kayaker faked his own death and fled to Europe via Canada.
