A Montgomery man charged with possession of a firearm with a machine gun conversion device who was at the scene of the Nov. 10 shooting at Tuskegee University appeared briefly in federal court Friday morning.

The parents of an 18-year-old who was killed in a hail of gunfire at Tuskegee University are suing the school in a wrongful death lawsuit.

The parents of an 18-year-old killed in a shooting on Tuskegee University’s campus on Nov. 9 filed a lawsuit against the university on Tuesday, alleging negligence by school officials led to their son’s death.

Tamika Johnson and Larry Johnson Jr. are suing Jaquez Myrick, Terrance Calloway, Reginald Brown, Tuskegee University, the International Protection Investigation Agency, Jones Lang LaSalle Americas Inc. and up to 45 unknown defendants who may be legally responsible for the death.

A newly unsealed federal complaint says a man accused of having a machine gun at Tuskegee University admitted to firing his weapon during a weekend shooting, but denied shooting at anyone.

According to authorities, the suspect, identified as Jaquez Myrick, 25, was found in possession of a handgun with a machine gun conversion device.

The parents of the teenager killed in a mass shooting at Tuskegee University have filed a lawsuit against the school.

The shooting, which also wounded 12 people, happened early on Sunday as crowds gathered at the historically Black school to celebrate the final day of its 100th homecoming week.
