The New York Yankees saw Walker Buehler's brilliance up close and personal in this year's World Series, and it was apparently impressive enough for Brian Cashman to make a run at the former Los Angeles Dodgers righty in free agency.

Among all the current Los Angeles Dodgers free agents, Walker Buehler’s market seems to be developing the quickest. Buehler struggled for most of the 2024 season but started to improve late in the year and carried that performance into the postseason.

Kotsay said the quiet part out loud regarding the Athletics' temporary home in Sacramento. It will be nearly impossible for them to attract free agents like Buehler while playing in a minor-league ballpark. They will be there until the 2027 season, with their stadium in Las Vegas scheduled to open in 2028.

Buehler, 30, is coming off a disappointing season that saw him post a 5.38 ERA (72 ERA+) and a 2.29 strikeout-to-walk ratio. Buehler did recover during the postseason (and threw the title-clinching pitch in Game 5 of the World Series), leading CBS Sports to rank him as the 26th-best free agent available:
