Police determined a threat of a school shooting targeting McDevitt Middle School in Waltham was “non-credible” and came from a student living in the city.

Police and school administrators are planning to have extra security and prohibit backpacks at a Massachusetts middle school on Monday in response to several threats posted on Snapchat.

There was an increased police presence Monday at a middle school in Waltham, Massachusetts, following online threats of a potential school shooting. Waltham Public Schools Superintendent Marisa Mendonsa confirmed Sunday that administrators were made aware of multiple threats that were made via Snapchat regarding a potential shooting at McDevitt Middle School.
