A day after Nova Scotia Premier Tim Houston led the Progressive Conservatives to a massive majority win, the Liberals were licking their wounds and wondering why their party was almost wiped off the political map.

Zach Churchill said Tuesday that the Liberals “fought hard” despite a devastating loss in the Nova Scotia election, with the party losing Official Opposition status to the NDP. Churchill said he was proud of the campaign the Liberals ran but said he would discuss his future as party leader with the local association and remaining caucus in the days to come.

With voting day in Nova Scotia set for Nov. 26, the latest polls suggest the Progressive Conservatives are leading by a wide margin, with the New Democrats — led by Claudia Chender — and Churchill's Liberals in a tight race for second.
