A 60-year-old devotee passed away at the Ijtema venue in Tongi of Gazipur on Friday. The deceased was identified as Abdul Kuddus Gazi, a resident of Dumuria upazila of Khulna. Habibullah Raihan, coordinator of the Biswa Ijtema media cell, said that Kuddus Gazi fell ill while in bed around 10:45am on Friday and died on the spot.
The 58th version of the Biswa Ijtema on the banks of the Turag River in Gazipur’s Tongi has begun with participation of tens of thousands of devotees from home and abroad.
According to a press release issued on Thursday, a total of 374 personnel have been assigned to oversee fire safety across the Ijtema grounds.
