Pro has no college coaching experience but Delaware State succeeded with stunning hiring of Joe Purzycki, may again

The former Eagle was introduced as the head coach for Delaware State’s football team and made his Super Bowl prediction in Wednesday’s press conference.

So far Sanders’ coaching staff includes only former Woodrow Wilson head coach Travis Clark, a longtime mentor who was with him Wednesday. But he has already attracted about a dozen recruits since his hiring became public Dec. 26 and pledged to also build a strong coaching crew that may, he hinted, also have some familiar names.

Historically Black colleges and universities are leveling up with new coaching hires who bring stardom and NFL playing experience to the sidelines. On Friday, former Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver and eight-time Pro Bowler DeSean Jackson was hired as the new head coach for the Delaware State Hornets.
