Lucas Raymond is a big reason the Detroit Red Wings are doing so well, and Patrick Kane may soon rejoin the lineup.

Raymond was doing fine before McLellan became Detroit Red Wings coach on Dec. 26. Since then, his game has reached another level. He has 23 points (seven goals, 16 assists) in 16 games under McLellan. He ranks second in the NHL in points during this time, one behind Boston’s David Pastrnak.

In the Red Wings’ ongoing build, the biggest question can be found at the base: Do they have elite talent? Lucas Raymond is starting to answer it.

The Red Wings (25-21-5, 55 points) have won four in a row and are 12-4-1 under McLellan. They are only two points out of the wild card spots that Tampa Bay and Columbus currently occupy. They visit Calgary Saturday in the second stop of their four-game trip (10 p.m., FanDuel Sports Network).
