Freevee, which got its start as Amazon’s IMDb TV but adopted its current name in 2022, is one of a handful of streaming services that rely on ads for revenue instead of paying subscribers. Paramount Global’s Pluto TV and Fox Corp.’s Tubi have similar models.

Amazon is officially shutting down Freevee, its free, ad-supported video streaming service originally launched under the IMDb brand.

The tech giant will soon phase out Amazon Freevee as it consolidates its content into Prime Video. Original series including "Jury Duty," "Bosch: Legacy" and "Judy Justice" will remain on Prime Video without a paywall.
