David Chivers, president and publisher of the Des Moines Register from 2015 to 2018, died on Jan. 1 in Des Moines.
Jimmie Ledbetter, who pled guilty in 2025 for Scholl's death, will serve 45 years without parole. In 2017, his brother also got 45 years for assault.
