Sony has finally announced the worst-kept secret in video games: the PlayStation 5 Pro. PS5 lead architect Mark Cerny confirmed the mid-gen refresh during a PS5 Technical Presentation. Cerny said Sony wants to give players the high frame-rates they prefer with the new console.

Sony has confirmed that a surprise PlayStation 5 Technical Presentation event is taking place on Tuesday, September 10. It could very well mark the announcement of the long-awaited PS5 Pro console.

Sony says the PS5 Pro can render graphics up to 45 per cent faster at up to 60 frames per second. It also boasts two to three times better ray-tracing capabilities, enhancing how light and shadows interact in games to give players a more immersive, realistic experience.

The next version of Sony’s PlayStation games console – the PlayStation 5 Pro – will go on sale in November, it has been confirmed. Maker Sony said the new console has a substantially upgraded internal system to boost speed and performance, while artificial intelligence is also being used to enhance image clarity and detail in video games.
