It has been a long time since the crude and topical humor of "South Park" has produced a new season. Season 26 was released in March 2023 and only produced six episodes. The same occurred for season 25, which only contained six episodes and was released in February 2022.

Park County — the business entity behind the long-running satirical cartoon — alleged that RedBird executive Jeff Shell crossed a line by interfering with its negotiations with other companies. A representative for Shell denied the accusation.
