The effects of the so-called bomb cyclone storm on Southern California will be less dramatic compared with the north, weather forecasters say.

A developing storm system forecast to swing off the Oregon and Washington coastline on Friday will add to the region's weather woes.

The Bay Area and Northern California were seeing the impacts of a storm fueled by a strong atmospheric river and intensified by a bomb cyclone off the Pacific Northwest coast. The storm was bringing heavy rainfall and damaging winds which led to a series of power outages in the region.
