The Wisconsin Supreme Court cleared the way Tuesday for the state to permanently enact a ban on conversion therapy in a ruling that gives the governor more power over how state laws are enacted.

For years, Governor Tony Evers has been working to ban conversion therapy, the discredited practice of converting members of the LGBTQ+ community to heterosexuality. The Governor has been twice blocked by the Republican-controlled Joint Committee for the Review of Administrative Rules.
