DOJ asks judge to break up Google
DOJ wants Google to sell off Chrome, and is threatening a possible divestiture of Android in the future. The Department of Justice asked a federal judge Wednesday to force Google to sell off its popular Chrome browser and impose restrictions on how it uses artificial intelligence and its Android mobile operating system in a bid to break up the company’s illegal monopoly over the search engine market.
Google’s Government Foes Are Aiming Too High
Some of the DOJ’s proposals were expected, such as the divestiture of the Chrome browser and a ban on payments to Apple in exchange for default or preferred placement of Google’s search engine on Apple’s devices.
