George Russell threw down the early benchmark early in Q3, putting his W15 on provisional pole by over three-tenths over Charles Leclerc. McLaren’s Lando Norris pulled out of his first push lap after a snap at Turn 4 saw his MCL38 veer off the racing line.

Four-times world champion Max Verstappen put Red Bull on pole position for the first time in five months at the Qatar Grand Prix on Saturday while McLaren qualified ahead of title rivals Ferrari.George Russell qualified second for Mercedes with McLaren's Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri third and fourth respectively.

Lando Norris ignored team orders as he handed his McLaren teammate Oscar Piastri the win in the sprint race in Qatar on Saturday, while champion Max Verstappen secured pole position for the grand prix.

Lewis Hamilton, Max Verstappen and 15 other Formula 1 drivers are under investigation at the Qatar Grand Prix. Mercedes star Hamilton and Red Bull rival Verstappen are among the 17 drivers that are under investigation after an alleged infraction during the sprint qualifying at the Lusail International Circuit .

Oscar Piastri won the sprint race in Qatar ahead of team-mate Lando Norris as McLaren closed in on a first constructors’ title in 26 years. Much has been made of Norris’ lacklustre starts this season but the British driver blasted away from pole before playing the team game to help Piastri.
