A day after the surprising firings of longtime general manager Mike Rizzo and manager Davey Martinez, the Washington Nationals have tabbed Miguel Cairo to be the team’s interim manager. Cairo was Martinez’s bench coach and close friend and was offered the job on Sunday night after Martinez and Rizzo learned of their dismissals following the Nationals’ series-sweeping loss to the Red Sox.
