We had an opportunity to take a short drive in Mahindra's flagship electric vehicle, the XEV 9e. Here are our first impressions about it.

Electric cars are different and Mahindra has thrown everything at their new range of EVs in terms of a new electric architecture along with specifications normally seen on luxury cars. The XEV 9e based on the Inglo platform is the bigger and more premium EV which starts at Rs 21.

Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6e electric SUVs have been launched as two major EVs in the country in 2024. Both these two electric cars are underpinned by the carmaker's INGLO modular architecture.

Mahindra and Mahindra launched two new EVs in India, the BE 6e and the XEV 9e in India. The BE 6e and the XEV 9e are based on the INGLO architecture, in which the battery is placed on the floor, resulting in better interior space.

In terms of dimensions, the BE 6e measures 4,371 mm in length, 1,907 mm in width, and 1,627 mm in height. In contrast, the XEV 9e is 4,789 mm long, 1,907 mm wide, and 1,694 mm tall. While the XEV 9e is considerably longer and marginally taller than the BE 6e, they have an identical width and wheelbase, which stands at 2,775 mm.

Mahindra’s first EV under the new ‘XEV’ sub-brand, the XEV 9e, has been launched. It gets six monotone colour options: Deep Forest, Stealth Black, Nebula Blue, Tango Red, Everest White, and Desert Myst.

Mahindra launched the highly anticipated BE 6e with introductory prices starting at Rs 18.90 lakh (ex-showroom).  The Mahindra BE 6e will be available with two battery pack options – a 59kWh unit and a 79kWh unit.

As seen in the table above, the XEV 9e is significantly longer, marginally wider and sits on a slightly larger wheelbase. The XUV700 stands taller due to its more conventional SUV stance, while the XEV 9e gets a sloping roofline.

Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M) unveiled two 'electric origin' sport utility vehicles (SUVs) — the BE 6e and XEV 9e — to be priced at ₹18.9 lakh (ex-showroom) and ₹21.9 lakh (ex-showroom) respectively.
