One team, to be exact. F1 announced on Monday that an agreement in principle has been reached and that a General Motors-Cadillac team will be joining the grid for the 2026 season. The announcement brings to a close months of debate and discussion over a potential 11th team on the grid.

The other 10 teams had largely been against the introduction of a new outfit because of the dilution of prize money.

Formula 1 is set to have 11 teams in 2026 after reaching an "agreement in principle" with General Motors, which will use its Cadillac brand.
