The son of Norway's crown princess is behind bars as police probe fresh allegations of sexual assault against him, following third arrest in a matter of months.

The eldest son of Norway's Crown Princess Mette-Marit is suspected of a second rape, police said Wednesday, two days after his arrest over another allegation of sexual assault.

Marius Borg Hoiby, 27, is the stepson of Norway's heir to the throne but has no royal title or official duties. Hoiby's lawyer, Oeyvind Bratlien, has said his client is innocent.

Marius Borg Hoiby, 27, is under arrest for suspicion of rape involving someone who was unconscious and otherwise incapable of resisting the act, Norway Police announced on Tuesday.

Marius Borg Hoiby, the stepson of Crown Prince Haakon of Norway, was arrested on Monday. His lawyer denied the accusation and said his client was cooperating with the authorities.
