Just hours before calling the "Thursday Night Football" game between the Cincinnati Bengals and Baltimore Ravens, football broadcaster Kirk Herbstreit shared that his 10-year-old Golden Retriever, Ben, had been put down after a battle with leukemia.

Kirk Herbstreit's late dog, Ben, became an internet sensation over the last year as he traveled alongside his owner from Amazon Prime Video's Thursday Night Football to ESPN's College GameDay throughout the football season.

Kirk Herbstreit's dog Peter made an adorable cameo during a college football broadcast on Saturday, Nov. 23. The golden retriever joined the commentator on the road weeks after his other dog, Ben, died.

Kirk Herbstreit's dog, Ben, had been a staple wherever the announcer appeared. He could be seen wagging his tail on ESPN's "College GameDay" and Herbstreit would bring him up during "Thursday Night Football" broadcasts on Amazon Prime Video. Ben passed away earlier this month after cancer spread in his body.
