The man, who said he was celebrating his niece’s birthday at Castles N’ Coasters in Phoenix, told NBC affiliate KPNX he was riding Desert Storm, a double-looping roller coaster, when his lap bar unlatched just seconds after the ride began.

A man who climbed out of a moving roller coaster at a Phoenix amusement park says he took action after his safety bar came unlatched. KPNX's Gabriella Bachara reports.

An Arizona man made a split-second decision on a roller coaster that he said may have saved his life. The man, who did not want his name used, jumped from a moving roller coaster seat just before the cars went down a large drop. The man was riding the double loop coaster called the Desert Storm at Castles N’ Coasters park near Phoenix on Nov. 24.
