The Texas Maternal Mortality Committee has announced that it will not be reviewing any deaths in the two years after the Dobbs decision that overturned Roe v. Wade and led to Texas passing one of the most restrictive abortion restrictions in the nation.

The largest state with an abortion ban, Texas can offer broader insight into the impact of abortion laws than any other state in the country.

The new legislation, prompted by ProPublica’s reporting, comes after 111 Texas doctors signed a public letter urging that the ban be changed because it “does not allow us as medical professionals to do our jobs.
