The jets from Fighter Attack Squadron 314 aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln carried out the attacks last week, after which the San Diego-based aircraft carrier left the region. The “C” model of the fifth-generation fighter has folding wings and carries more fuel to fly from aircraft carriers.

Traveling at speeds of 1,200 mph, the F-35C can carry Joint Direct Attack Munitions, or JDAMs, air-to-air missiles and other ordnance.
