This snow system skirts in from the west, bringing accumulating snow for parts of the region tonight. This system likely produces an average of 1-2" for places south of the Ohio River. Since it will be so cold, snow will stick to grass and untreated roads. Watch for slick spots if traveling late Saturday or early Sunday.

The NWS has issued a winter weather advisory for parts of the Rochester region. Here's how much snow to expect.

On Friday at 3:05 a.m. EST an updated winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service in effect until Saturday at 7 a.m. EST for Mason, Lake, Osceola, Oceana and Newaygo counties.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for parts of the Finger Lakes and Central New York, warning of hazardous travel conditions starting late Sunday night. Snowfall is expected to make Monday morning’s commute challenging, with significant accumulations in some areas.

"The Winter Weather Advisory has been cancelled and is no longer in effect," says the National Weather Service.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for much of the WLKY viewing area. Initially, clouds will thicken up as precipitation tries to move into the region. The precipitation could start as a light wintry mix, but that will quickly transition to all light snow.

Heavy snow will increase in coverage and intensity throughout Christmas Day across northern Kansas, Nebraska and South Dakota, forecasters say.
