OpenAI launched short-form video app Sora last week, and it's videos have been taking over social media. Users quickly flooded feeds with AI-generated clips of popular brands and animated characters, which could lead to lawsuits against OpenAI, experts told CNBC. Characters are copyrightable — meaning third parties can’t use copyrighted or original characters without permission — and Sora may be a fresh breeding ground for infringement disputes.
