DAY 1: Ride as slow as you can in a straight line. Use your knees, elbows, and stabilizing muscles to keep the bike upright. This is harder than it looks, and if you don’t agree: try riding even slower! Come back tomorrow for DAY 2 of the 30 Day Skills Challenge! #mtb #mtbiking #mountainbiking #mtbdaily #challenge #mountainbike | Super Rider

DAY 28: What if you never needed to Bunnyhop again? The standing wheelie is a more controlled technique for riding up and over obstacles - and by practicing it on small ledges like this, you can slowly start to work your way up to bigger and bigger obstacles. #wheelie #mtb | Super Rider

Join in this year’s 30 Day Challenge to boost your mountain bike control and confidence for the season ahead! Every day for the next 30 days, you’ll get a skill or drill to practice, which will build you up and challenge you over the month. You can use any style of bike to practice this, and you don’t need much space to get it done. Have fun the next 30 days, and don’t forget: practice makes progress! #mtb #mtbiking #mountainbiking #mtbdaily #challenge #ridemtb | Super Rider

DAY 19: The two-wheel hop has saved me on the trail more times than I can count. The best part is that you can practice it on flat ground, before trying it on the trails. Stay centered and use your elbows and knees to pull the bike up (using your pedal scoop technique, of course). | Super Rider

DAY 24: Today’s challenge is to get your front wheel to move as far as you possibly can. Position your bodyweight toward the back of the bike to make the front wheel light, then lift off and lean with your knees, hips and elbows to direct the front wheel where it needs to go. Two tips: (1) the higher you lift the front wheel, the more airtime it has to rotate - and (2) test that quick little wheel turn that I did, that can help build some quick momentum for the movement. Have fun with this one,

DAY 29: Remember that all of this riding and practicing has one goal: fun! Try to mix things up a bit and combine skills to create new ways of riding your bike. If you can pivot, you might also be able to use it to ride up obstacles like this curb! | Super Rider

DAY 18: Rocking is the best of both worlds- you can build repetition with your front and back wheel lifts while also building your balance on the bike. It’s about controlling your body weight shifts on the bike - and the smaller you can make them, the easier it will be to control the bike. This one is exhausting for beginners, but the more you practice it, the more efficient you will get. It’s worth it! #mtb | Super Rider

DAY 12: Today we’ll practice combining two individual skills to create a new skill. Two elements we’ve already practiced can come together to ride over an obstacle, get used to transferring your focus between each element of the technique under full control. #mtb #mtbiking #mtbdaily | Super Rider

DAY 8: Standing wheelies. They might look or feel funny to practice, but they are so valuable as a base skill to bigger movements on the trail. This is an excellent way to extend your comfort zone over the back wheel, as well as develop side-to-side balance in that position. Try to get one full pedal rotation before you tap the brakes - overexaggerating your shoulder movement if you need a little extra pop. Have fun - practice makes progress! #wheelie #mtb #mtbiking | Super Rider

DAY 4: Progression starts when you push past your comfort zone. We’ll focus first on the front wheel balance point - start small and work your way up higher. As you get comfortable farther and farther over both front and back wheel balance points, you open up a whole new range of motion on the bike. This increased range of motion is what will help us learn so many other skills (during this 30-day challenge and beyond). Don’t forget: Practice Makes Progress. Come back tomorrow for DAY 5! #mtb #mo

DAY 23: Wheelies are a lot easier to learn when you have the right technique. Lowering your seat gives your knees a little extra bend, which helps your side-to-side balance. A slightly higher gear helps you lift the front wheel by pedaling harder (too light of a gear and you won’t have enough power to bring the front wheel up when it drops). But the most important part is starting your pedaling motion with your opposite foot. By doing this, you’ll put yourself in your most stable position with y

Back wheel control isn’t *just* lifting the back wheel off the ground - but starting with a strong foundation like the pedal scoop (no matter what pedals you have) is a great skill to build. I get asked a lot if I’m clipped in, and the answer is that ALL of my bikes have flat pedals. You can lift and control your back wheel without any special shoes or pedals (in fact, I highly recommend riding with flat pedals). Start here - and keep going! Back wheel control makes a huge difference once you ha
